As Lewis Hamilton made oblique suggestions on Sunday that he might be considering retirement as he heads for a record-equalling seventh F1 world championship, despite driving better than ever, Mercedes may also have to consider life without the other bulwark of their incredible success: team boss Toto Wolff.

The Austrian businessman, a former racing driver who has shares in both the Mercedes and Aston Martin teams, is also considering his own future, which may include moving to chairmanship of the team.
